Yale University, New Haven, CT

The summer workshop will be held on the campus of Yale University. It will be held from Monday, July 18 to Friday, July 22, 2005 with an opening reception on Sunday evening, July 17. The goal of the Yale Summer Workshop is to provide an intensive introduction to methods needed to utilize facilities with advanced astrometric capabilities. Immediately following the Yale Workshop, the Michelson Science Center will hold a complementary one-week workshop at Caltech called "Discovering New Worlds Through Astrometry" http://msc.caltech.edu/workshop/2005/. The Yale Summer Workshop is designed to prepare students and researchers for astrometric research in areas relevant to modern astrophysics, while the MSW applies astrometry to one of NASA's principal missions, i.e. the search for extra-solar planets. Graduate students and researchers may attend one or both workshops, since there will be minimal overlap in the materials.  The Yale workshop is not a prerequisite for the MSW workshop.

Applications for participation and financial aid

Graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and others interested in the subject are invited to attend the Yale Workshop.   Financial assistance for travel and accommodations is planned for successful applicants, contingent on the receipt of funding.  Local accommodations, on the Yale campus, will be provided to participants for the duration of the workshop. There is no registration fee.

Applicants are asked to provide a brief description of their current research interests, as well as how they would benefit from the workshop. A letter of recommendation is required for student applications.

Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to complete the Registration Form by June 1st, 2005.
