This course is intended for non-science majors who have a reasonable comfort level with high-school science and mathematics. We will focus on three fundamental areas in astrophysics that are current subjects of intense research and debate. The three topics are:
(1) Exoplanets: Planetary systems around stars beyond the Sun.
(2) Black Holes: What are black holes, and how do we prove they exist?
(3) Dark Matter: Evidence for dark matter in the Universe.

Astro 160 provides credit toward the SC and QR distribution requirements. See here for a detailed discussion of enrollment policies and course level in terms of math. See the Yale Astronomy website for general advice about choosing introductory astronomy courses.
