Date: Wed, 24 Apr 2002 22:01:53 EDT From: DWoodwell1@aol.com Subject: softball results Hi folks, Sorry the results are a bit late...I was waiting for confirmation of this weekend's second game. Make sure you read this entire e-mail...there is important info at the end. Anyhow, for those of you not there, last Sunday unfolded something like this... The Bad News Barristers (Law School) scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back on way to a 16-2 victory over our Frogs in Space. Although playing reasonably good defense, they kept on hitting it places we weren't. Speaking of hitting it places the other players aren't, kudos to History "hit-it-where-they-ain't" Jeff, who continued his torid hitting pace --- going 3-3 and raising his seasonal batting average to .916. Alas, our lead-off hitter accounted for a good portion of the hits of the day. Not to despair, though. At 2-1-1, Frogs in Space is in good shape for the playoffs (tied for 2nd with Mismatched Bases) -- where there's a good chance we'll get another crack at the Law School folks. If climbing our way to the top of the league was easy, it wouldn't be fun, right? So...the details for this upcoming Sunday. First game will be at 12:30. We play on a different field than we've been playing on. This time it will be C3 -- which, I think is the field on the far side near Derby Rd. If I'm wrong, we'll just have to move. I will be there at 11:30, in case anybody wants a little extra practice before the game. If not, please try to come around 12:00 (changing the lineup after it's written, in particular, can be a real pain). The second game at 2:00 is a makeup game, and hasn't been assigned a field -- so we'll just have to find them. Oh yes...the two teams are YSD (Drama School) and the Wright Stuff (Physics). FINALLY, I just found out about ten minutes again that registration for the Summer League is quickly approaching. Please contact me if: 1). You have played with us within the last couple seasons and will not be here. If you will not be here permanantly, let me know if you want to be dropped off the e-mail list; 2) You are sick of softball and don't want to play anymore (is that even possible?); and 3). if you have a PREFERENCE ABOUT WHAT DAY WE PLAY our summer games. Summer games are at 5:30, generally once a week, on WEEKDAYS. The games actually start the week of the 12th of May, so there's hardly a pause after the Spring Season ends (yeah!!!!)!! I think that it. Hope to see everyone out there on Sunday for the regular season finale. It was great last Sunday to see that we hard as many women as men. Great job this season avoiding any forfeits! Let's keep it up! (because if we don't have enough players on a double-header weekend...well...let's not talk about that). Until Sunday... Doug
