We were playing the Aces. We got out to an early lead, which we held going into the bottom of the sixth, then squadered. The game was tied 7-7 in the top of the seventh, our final at bat. We had two runners on and we got a clean single hit to right center field. But instead of playing it on a bounce, their outfielder, Dick, who had been jawing at our pitchers the whole game (I'm not sure if that's his real name, but that's what we were calling him) decided to dive for the ball and it got past him for a homerun. He only came up about eight feet short, though, so it was a good play. :) We held them to one run in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Some highlights included Jeff's nice takeout slide at second base, Doug's nice slide into the region of grass near, but not quite at second base, Doug's diving catch in the outfield, and several self-defense stabs of line drives by Brent while he was pitching. There was also much solid defensive play all around most of the game. Next week's game is Tuesday, the 12th at 5:45 on the same field as this past one was (on the far side of the stables from the other fields), against the past masters. Someone remind me to bring the good bases. I'll send out another reminder on Monday or something since that seemed to work well this time. Also, those of you who said you could recruit more players, please send me their emails. Tom
