| Welcome to the
bizarre and amazing world of black holes! As you will see, the physics related to black holes runs from scales that are essentially
infinitesimally small (the black hole singularity) to one hundred times
larger than the size of our entire galaxy (the jets produced by radio
galaxies). Most of the slides in this
talk are taken from the Web and represent but a small smattering of what is
now available to adventurous Web explorers. |

| Inspiration for
this talk (as well as many slides!) came from the excellent presentations of
Kip Thorne and Roger Blandford at a recent teachers’ workshop on black hole
astrophysics. Please see http://www.itp.ucsb.edu/online/bh_teach for more! |
