V4641 Sgr Optical (and Infrared!) Outburst - 2003

Updated: 8th August 2003 - V4641 seems to be heading back towards quiescent levels. No short-term activity like that seen previous two nights.

Long-term lightcurves (Last updated 8th August 2003)

Short-term fluctuations

The following plot shows the I-band data folded on the orbital period of 2.81730 days (Orosz et al. 2001, ApJ, 555, 489).

The open triangles are data taken on UT 2003 August 1.95-2.23, open squares from UT 2003 August 2.96-3.25 and open circles from UT August 3.99-4.28. (This will not be updated with most recent data. Refer to figures above.)

Data previous to UT 1 August (filled squares) follow an ellipsoidal modulation when folded on the orbital period. Data from the last three nights clearly deviate from this.
