Current Status of the SPM Program
The diagram above shows the status of the SPM program as of January 14, 1998. The field centers for which first-epoch plates exist are indicated by the small green dots. Fields for which second-epoch plates have been taken are indicated by the larger blue dots. The red squares show those fields for which the plates have already been measured, using the Yale PDS microdensitometer. We have concentrated on the -25° through -45° declination zones, although the Milky Way fields remain to be measured.
The SPM Catalog 1.0 includes the measures from 30 SPM fields around the South Galactic Pole. In addition to these SGP fields, over one hundred other fields have been measured and reduced. These fields are currently being readied for general release and, hopefully, will be available in an extended version of the SPM Catalog later this year.
