Astronomy Software: Scisoft
Yale Astronomy programs are packaged in a
"software suite" called Scisoft, provided by ESO.
We to run a setup script to
configure our working environment for astronomy software.
From
superior command line:
source
/scisoft/bin/Setup.csh
Using IRAF for the first time:
If
this is your first time to start IRAF
,
you need to configure your working
directory.
Enter command:
mkdir
iraf
to create an iraf subdirectory.
Enter command:
cd
iraf
to change to your iraf directory.
Enter command:
mkiraf
to initialize iraf files choose
xgterm
for terminal type
- Enter command xgterm
to open a xgterm terminal window
- Enter command ds9
& to start ds9
(as a background task)
- Enter command ecl to start IRAF
