Explore Over The Summer
We offer an astronomy summer course in Chile for Yale science majors, through the the Yale Summer Program Office. The course has observing laboratory exercises as well as a lecture component, and includes an extended trip to several of Chile's premier observatories located in the spectacular Andes mountains. It is available to Yale students (and non-Yale students if there is space) who have completed an introductory Physics class (Physics 180 or 200 or 260). This program was first offered in June-July 2007, and was very successful. The instructor for the class is Professor Jose Maza (UdeChile), who spent a sabbatical at Yale in 2002 and taught one of Yale's introductory astronomy courses.
